Introduction to Lytle Rather
When I think about why I do what I do, um, there are a lot of things that, that play into that. But there are really two events when I look back that I think have shaped why I really want to help people, why I’m passionate about wanting to help people. I was coming home from the University of Tennessee for Christmas break, and I was getting ready to tell my dad I was dropping out of engineering.
I found out, starting my junior year that I didn’t like it. I didn’t want to do it. It was something I didn’t enjoy. And he told me, I, if you wanna do something else, do it. Find what you like to do. Fast forward to February of 2000. Chris and I were, you know, weighing how to start this business? Should we start this business?
And so I went to a mentor, a very straightforward guy, to the point guy, and I was explaining to him, you know, what I was struggling with. And he painted a clear picture for me of what this future would look like. I, here’s what you need to be doing. This is the path you need to be on.
And again, as I think about sitting down with clients, if I can help them see what they’re passionate about, what they want to do, and then paint this picture in a clear, simple, straightforward way, there’s nothing better than that. And we get to spend our career helping these people make smart decisions and walk along with them really through their life.
