Should I be Concerned About “Beating” the Market?

Oftentimes, clients ask us the question, “Should I be concerned about beating the market?” When they ask this question, they’re specifically talking about the S&P index or the Dow Jones index, and those represent only 500 companies or 30 companies for example, in the Dow Jones.
What we try to do is reframe that question and look at it more specifically at the family level. So, were asking you about what’s most important to you, your goals, your dreams, what you want to accomplish with your money, and then develop a family index for you and your spouse and your family that we can track and make sure those things that are most important to you are being accomplished.
