Should I Be Worried About Inflation?
Hi, I’m Tim Eichorn, Senior Advisor and Partner with Rather and Kittrell. Most clients come to us and are worried about market shifts, and worried about governmental policies, and worried about different things going on in the world. One of the things that most people don’t take into consideration is inflation.
We find that to be something that creeps up on us, and we need to build that into a portfolio, because it can be just as big a risk as some of those other things.
For instance, when a client says when my number is x, maybe 1 million dollars, or my number is y, 5 million dollars, in 20 years, inflation at its historic rate of about 2.2%, will mean that they actually need 1.6, or almost 8 million, to accomplish the same goals 20 years from now.
Inflation is one of those things that can very quietly move up on us, and it is just as big a risk for a portfolio, to our dream, and to our goals, as any number of things.
We look to plan for that at Rather and Kittrell, and you can learn more about that at rkcapital.com.
